Daily Deviation

0 min read
Holy cow, I was not expecting so many messages when I logged on today, and I really was not expecting a daily deviation. I just want to say a few things about the piece: I titled it "toska" in Russian after a Nabokov quote about the complexity of the word, and I felt it really related to the human condition, I actually can't speak Russian, sorry. The figure is bound by a physical lack of arms and by abstract constraints around him.  the body was based on the oil-pourer I got to see in Milwaukee at a print convention. I'm really surprised by the DD, I am really glad to see some people see what I put into it. also, thank you so much to htt

Just for some documentation of where I'm at, I've fallen in love with monotypes, and rekindled my passion for ceramics.  I'm finally not wheel-throwing, and I can actually make some things I love by hand.  I'll post pics of my new hand-built things once they're all fired and glazed.  I'm also really enjoying hunting down glazes and mixing them by hand.  (I may have chosen the art path, but I still love science and literature)  I feel like a chemist when I do. But I've chosen sculpture for a focus (so I'm a little more free to do as I please), and I'm going to start making components for large compositions of found and created objects.

Repair Days

0 min read
Just got back from Memphis, took a 12 hour drive to volunteer at Repair Days.  Met some wonderful people, saw some awesome things, and learned a lot more than I expected to.  I'm no metalworker, but they were all very understanding and patient.  And now I've got a thousand ideas I just can't hold in my head.
